MOURINHO, THE VINDICATED ONE.

Jose Mourinho has been criticized for most parts this season especially for his tactics and incredulous spending in the summer transfer window where Paul Pogba became the new highest record transfer from Juventus. The undisputed guru of finals, Mourinho went on to land Manchester United a treble in his first season at the club. His critics are now in trouble because they are disappointed after all. They now have to go on to tell the world their justification for all the criticisms.

Mourinho's tactics may not be exciting or attractive when it comes to playing attacking football but his defensive approach has turned out to be the most decorated. First he won the Charity Cup; then the EFL Cup; and now the Europa Cup. In the FA Cup, his side defended the title they won last season under Louis van Gaal up until the quarter-finals where they lost 1-0 away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge under controversial circumstances with Ander Herera being sent off in the early stages of the match.

In the Premier League, his side finished 6th behind Arsenal(5th), Liverpool(4th), Man. City(3rd), Tottenham(2nd) and Chelsea(Champions). This indeed is where much of the criticism sparked from after winning only 18 out of a  total of 38 games. He however deserves some credits for a side that conceded only 29 goals compared to Arsenal(44), Liverpool(42), Man. City(39) and Chelsea(33) with the exception of Tottenham(26). Man. United also did better losing only 5 games compared to Arsenal(6), Liverpool(6) and Man. City(6) with the exception of Tottenham(4) and Chelsea(5).

The upcoming summer transfer window provides plenty of opportunity to strengthen his squad in order to address the problems of goal drought which haunted his side throughout the campaign. Indeed lack of goals is  particularly the ultimate reason why they couldn't mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title this term. Shoddy finishing in front of goal and probably bad-luck reigned supreme throughout the course of the campaign.

Nevertheless, the criticism is not worth it after all especially after scooping 3 out of a possible 5 trophies(Charity Cup✔ EFL Cup✔ Europa Cup✔ FA Cup✖ Premier League✖) this season. His summer signings, Ibrahimovic is the highest goalscorer for the club; Eric Baily is the most outstanding defender. His Mhkitaryn and Pogba capped a season of glory with a goal a piece in the final on Wednesday night at Stockholm.

Jose Mourinho, loved by many football fans all over the world, remains the Special One; the Happy One; now the Vindicated One. Congratulations to him and Manchester United Football Club.
